Like traditional vehicles, electric vehicles (EVs) experience their share of problems. Recently, two manufacturers issued safety recalls for EVs for different tire-related problems. The details follow.

Ford Motor Company is recalling an estimated 2,900 F-150 Lighting electric pickup trucks, reports Reuters. Due to a software issue, the trucks’ tire pressure monitoring system light may not illuminate when intended and fail to provide adequate warning of low tire pressure.

This scenario is dangerous as low tire inflation may lead to poor vehicle handling and a possible loss of control, which increases the likelihood of a collision.

To fix the problem, dealers will update the Body Control Module software for undelivered vehicles and customers who want the remedy immediately, notes the report. The software correction takes approximately 20 minutes.

In a setback for a brand new electric vehicle, Toyota Motor Corporation issued a global recall of an estimated 2,700 bZ4X Crossovers because wheel bolts could become loose, according to multiple reports. This is a hazardous situation because the whole wheel could potentially come off, upping the chances for a crash.

While there is no current remedy in place, the automaker is advising the 260 U.S. customers who have already taken delivery of their vehicles to park them immediately and contact any Toyota dealer to pick up their bZ4X.
