Klaus Zellmer has been named new CEO of Škoda Auto and member of the automaker’s board on management, effective July 1. Zellmer succeeds Thomas Schäfer, who will step down as at the end of June to take over as the Volkswagen brand chairman of the board of management.
A 20-year industry veteran, Zellmer holds a degree in business administration. He began his career with Porsche AG in 1997, subsequently serving in several leadership roles in France, North America, and Germany, including chairman of the board of management in 2010.
Since 2020, Zellmer has been the member of the board of management of the Volkswagen passenger cars brand, responsible for sales, marketing and after sales.
Zellmer has “not only distinguished himself as a leading automotive expert but has also demonstrated great strategic and entrepreneurial foresight,” said Murat Aksel, chairman of Škoda Auto supervisory board. “I am convinced that, alongside the Board team, he will do everything in his power to continue to systematically advance Škoda Auto’s successful development.
