Consignors always define the Conference of Automotive Remarketing and set an agenda that cuts straight to the questions and insights remarketing professionals seek, especially after the last two years of sustained abnormality in all areas of business.

The first half of CAR consists of the International Automotive Remarketers Alliance annual business meeting full of committee sessions that touch upon every aspect of the remarketing industry. The gatherings then lead into the three headliners on the IARA agenda. All are being held the morning of Wednesday, March 23:

The Making Point: In a keynote speech, Master Sergeant and Army Ranger Cedric King will talk candidly about the day he narrowly escaped death to a Taliban fighters’ improvised explosive device. He shares how his mindsets and faith provided an opportunity to show the world what is possible after just 21 months of grueling rehab, King crossed the finish line of the 2014 Boston Marathon on Prosthetics blades and has since done so six additional times also while becoming an Ironman Triathlete. He recently published his book, The Making Point.

The Future of Automotive Remarketing: The automotive industry will see more change in the next 10 years than it’s seen in the past 100. The automotive remarketing world is evolving at a rapid pace, and in this session, Steve Greenfield from Automotive Ventures will overview the big themes that affect the remarketing world, explain what it means for the industry, and make some bold predictions about what the future may hold.

Greenfield is CEO and founder of Automotive Ventures, LLC, an automotive technology advisory firm that helps entrepreneurs raise money and maximize the value of their companies, helps PE firms conduct due diligence on automotive technology acquisitions, advises technology CEOs on strategy, and helps represent sellers at time of sale.

Consignors Coping with Changes Beyond the Pandemic: This session will provide great ideas and insight from consignors in multiple segments of the automotive industry about how they are coping with day-to-day changes throughout their business. It will touch on volumes and the ever-evolving markets, how they are preparing for electric vehicles, and how they are handling staffing and COVID issues. Panelists include:

  • Darrin Aiken, assistant vice president of vehicle remarketing for Wheels Inc, where he has responsibility for all vehicle sales including sales to drivers and employees where he helped develop the WheelsDirect Program of selling vehicles.
  • Doug Campbell, head of fleet services for the Americas at Avis Budget Group, where he leads an organization with primary responsibility for vehicle acquisition and disposal.
  • Stephanie Compton, director of remarketing for Exeter Finance, where she is responsible for all the national disposal efforts for Exeter Finance, with the U.S. based remarketing team reporting up to her.
  • John Sullivan joined GM Remarketing in 2014 and transitioned over to GM Financial in 2015 where he holds the position of vice president of auction operations in the U.S.
  • Tom Stewart, an industry specialist in vehicle remarketing and auto finance, who is the president of Auction Management Solutions, Inc. Stewart works with auto auctions, auto finance companies, vehicle manufacturers, corporate fleets, commercial lessors, third party servicers, and e-commerce companies.

The 2022 Conference of Automotive Remarketing is co-produced by the Bobit business media company, owner of the Vehicle Remarketing and Automotive Fleet brands, in partnership with the International Automotive Remarketers Alliance.
