A leading global technology company, the 130-year old, Zurich-based ABB operates in four focused business areas: electrification, process automation, electric and mechanical mobility, and robotics.

Michael Halbherr has been appointed chairman of ABB E-mobility Holding AG, a leader in electric-vehicle charging solutions.

Swiss national Halbherr started his career at Boston Consulting Group and has been CEO of mobile maps and navigation pioneer gate5, acquired by Nokia. A member of Nokia’s leadership team, he directed the company’s services business unit. His career posts also include CEO of HERE Technologies.

Halbherr is a founder, investor, and board member of several start-up technology companies, as well as a board member of Vontobel Holding and Zurich Insurance Group of Switzerland.

A Ph.D. graduate in electrical engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich, Halbherr worked on supercomputing technologies during his postdoctoral researcher at the MIT Computer and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
