The new S 680 GUARD 4MATIC, latest protection vehicle in the Mercedes Benz special-edition S-Class series, now features all-wheel drive and will premiere at the IAA Mobility 2021 in Munich, September 9-12, 2021.

"The S 680 GUARD 4MATIC is one of the most customer-oriented products from Mercedes-Benz. That is because this special protection model focuses on people and their safety," according to Dirk Fetzer, head of product management S-Class. The model is often used by heads of state and business leaders.

The S 680 GUARD 4MATIC meets the highest ballistic test level for civilian vehicles and is resistant to explosive charges. In addition to unseen armoring elements, the GUARD also features newly designed multi-level glass “sandwich” protection glass windows, coated with polycarbonate to prevent splintering.

Other special protection equipment designed specifically for the GUARD includes newly developed electro-mechanical door actuators, hydraulically operated windows and a fire extinguishing system with automatic triggering function and emergency fresh-air system. Options include an extensive range of equipment for official authorities, such as a siren, flashing lights and radios, as well as a panic alarm system.

Available in four- and five-seat versions, the S 680 GUARD 4MATIC offers S-Class luxury features, with more than 80 options from active ambient lighting and a medial display with OLED technology to a first-class rear suite and rear airbag.
