Following an extensive €110 million production line modification, the fourth-generation ŠKODA AUTO small car model, FABIA is now being manufactured at the Czech automaker’s main plant in Mladá Boleslav.
For the first time, the FABIA is based on Volkswagen Group’s MQB-A0 platform, offering more space, improved comfort features as well as new safety and assistance systems.
The ŠKODA FABIA is built on the same production line as the SCALA and KAMIQ model series. Modernizations to build the FABIA model at the Mladá Boleslay plant included robotic automation and improvements to assembly lines and the press and welding shops.
The new FABIA is a front-wheel drive and available with a manual gearbox or an automatic seven-speed DSG. A choice of five petrol engines from Volkswagen Group’s current EVO generation is offered, combining low emissions with increased efficiency and greater dynamics. According to ŠKODA, the FABIA now sets a drag coefficient record of 0.28 in the small car segment, enabling a tested mileage of more than 900 km with the optional 50-liter fuel tank.
Since its debut in1999, more than 4.5 million units of the FABIA model have sold.
