The price of a gallon of regular unleaded increased 3.9 cents to $2.598 per gallon for the week ending March 19, while the price of diesel remained flat, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.

Compared to a year ago, the price has increased by 27.7 cents.

Average gasoline prices increased in eight of the nine regions tracked by the EIA with the Central Atlantic remaining flat with a decline of two-tenths of a cent to $2.628. The largest increase came in the Lower Atlantic region with a 5.8-cent increase to $2.462.

Meanwhile, the average price of a gallon of diesel fell four-tenths of a cent to $2.972, which is 43.3 cents higher than a year ago.
