Volkswagen Group of America is recalling 5,509 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan long-wheelbase SUVs because the back-up lights in the taillight assemblies may not be bright enough, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

To fix the problem, dealers will replace any defective inner taillight assemblies. There will be no charge for this service, NHTSA said.

The recall is expected to get under way next month. Vehicle owners can reach Volkswagen at (800) 893-5298. Volkswagen’s number for this recall is 94J9.
