Vantage Mobility International, a major manufacturer of wheelchair van conversions, is recalling 589 2017-model year Chrysler Pacifica vehicles that the company modified, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

In these minivans, the rear pinion bracket on both sides of the vehicle may crack, NHTSA said. As a result, the axle might not be centered and the wheel might wobble.

A wheel wobble may cause a possible loss of control, increasing the risk of a crash,” the federal safety agency warned on its website.

VMI dealers will replace the pinion brackets, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin Aug. 21. Vehicle owners can reach VMI customer service at (800) 488-9082. VMI’s number for this recall is PAC20170728.
