Subaru of America is recalling 72,000 vehicles equipped with the Eyesight Driver Assist System so dealers can reprogram the system, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported.

The recall affects Legacy, Outback, Impreza and XV Crosstrek vehicles in the 2015 model year, along with WRX vehicles in the 2016 model year.

The automatic pre-collision braking system may not function properly if the switch that activates the brake lights fails. As a result, the vehicle will not react to an obstacle in its path, NHTSA said.

There will be no charge for the system reprogramming.

Vehicle owners can reach Subaru at (800) 782-2783. Subaru's number for this recall is WQS-54.
