Ford has begun using a material known as Repreve that's derived from recycled plastic bottles to manufacture the cloth seats of the 2015 F-150 pickup and four other vehicles.

Repreve is a recycled fiber produced by Unifi that contains recycled materials, including post-industrial waste and used plastic bottles such as the PET bottles with a "1" label.

By using this recycled material, Ford will divert 5 million plastic bottles from landfills this year, according to the company.
