Nissan will unveil its next-gen Maxima mid-size sport sedan for the 2016 model year at the New York International Auto Show, the automaker announced after teasing a new vehicle in a Super Bowl ad.

Nissan's new Maxima will take design cues from the redesigned 2015 Murano mid-size SUV. It will first appear at the New York auto show starting April 3. View the "With Dad" Super Bowl ad here.

The Maxima would enter its eighth generation with this 2016 model-year vehicle. It was first sold in the U.S. as the 1976-MY Datsun 810 in February 1977.
