Ford Motor Co. has elevated Jim Farley to lead the company's Europe, Middle East, and Africa operations among other senior management changes.

Farley, 52, takes over as executive vice president and president for the EMEA region. He now serves as executive vice president of global marketing, sales and service. In a related move, Stephen Odell has been promoted to Farley's previous role. Both now report to CEO Mark Fields.

Ford has announced several other moves.

Nick Smither, group vice president and chief information officer, has elected to retire after 34-year career. Marcy Klevorn succeeds Smither. Robert Brown, vice president for sustainability, environment and safety engineering, has elected to retire after 35-year career. Kim Pittel succeeds Brown.

The moves are all effective Jan. 1.
