General Motors has named Stephen Carlisle president and managing director for Canada. He replaces Kevin Williams, who has led the GM territory since 2010.

Williams is retiring after more than 30 years with GM. His former roles have included vice present and general manager, service and parts operations and president and managing director of GM de Mexico; GM North America's vice president of quality and global quality process leader; and global executive director of supplier quality, development and supplier diversity.

Carlisle will report to Alan Batey, president, GM North America. Carlisle most recently served as the vice president of global product planning and program management based in the United States. He has also taken on the role as vice president, U.S. sales operations and president and managing director of GM's southeast Asia operations.
