Gary Singer, owner and Merchants Fleet Management's chairman of the board, has accepted Bechtel's Key Supplier Award in recognition of valuable contributions to Bechtel power projects, according to the fleet management company.

Merchants is honored to receive this recognition along with 56 other awardees, representing a multitude of industries, that attended Bechtel's subcontractor and supplier recognition dinner Feb. 25, according to the company.

Bechtel's procurement and contract managers nominated recipients and the winners were chosen by senior leaders. Qualifications for this achievement included overall performance, the ability to deliver quality equipment on time, work collaboratively to meet milestones and meet or exceed project expectations in aspects of safety, construction performance, technical expertise and environmental compliance.

At the award ceremony, Bechtel expressed their gratitude to vendors and employees which they believe are the reason for their success. They value loyalty, being treated fairly, running cost effective operations and building strong relationships with partners; all principles that align with Merchants' business philosophy, according to Merchants.

Singer and Greg McIntyre, regional sales coordinator for Merchants, have worked closely to develop a strong fleet partnership with Ron Crafton, Bechtel's material coordinator. Bechtel appreciates Merchants' ability to be nimble, highly responsive and to provide fleet vehicles and related services on-demand for their project based operations, according to the company.

Bechtel was started by Warren A. Bechtel in 1898 and it's the fifth largest family owned business in the country. Under Bechtel's leadership, the company has developed into the largest construction and engineering company in the U.S.
