WEX Inc. has named Nicola Morris as its senior vice president of global business strategy and development experience, the fuel card provider announced.

Morris will be responsible for managing corporate development and strategic planning, directing corporate marketing, and overseeing early state product development, according to WEX.

"With more than 20 years of experience in global business strategy, business development, and marketing, Nicola will be a critical asset to WEX," said Melissa D. Smith, WEX's president and CEO. "She will play a main role in the company's continued global expansion, focusing on our long-term corporate development. Additionally, her deep expertise in technology-intensive business models will lend support to our innovation goals in new and existing markets."

Prior to joining WEX, Morris held several positions of increasing responsibility at Verizon Communications. Most recently, she was vice president of global corporate strategy. Morris has also worked at MCI, Digex, Iridium, and the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC).
