Earlier this month, Derrick Hatami stepped into the role of vice president of U.S. sales for Nissan that oversees the automaker's fleet sales.

The move follows a reshuffling in Nissan's fleet sales operations announced in November that included Matt Burhart taking over as director of light commercial vehicles sales and marketing.

Hatami took over his new role Jan. 13 overseeing sales operations, vehicle operations, light commercial vehicles and fleet functions. He reports to Fred Diaz, senior vice president over sales and marketing, as well as parts and service.

"Derrick has a strong track record for driving sales success, and we are eager to bring him on board at Nissan," Diaz said.

Previously, Hatami was Hyundai's west region general manager. He has also spent time at J.D. Power and Associates and Accenture. He has an MBA from Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Sloan School of Management.
