2013 Nissan Leaf Gets IIHS 'Top Safety Pick' Recognition

The all-electric 2013 Nissan Leaf earned a Top Safety Pick recognition level from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The vehicle earned ratings of “Good” in IIHS’ front, side, rollover, and rear crash tests.
Standard safety systems on the 2013-MY Leaf include the Nissan Advanced Air Bag System with dual-stage supplemental front airbags with seat belt sensors and occupant classification sensor, front seat-mounted side impact supplemental airbags, and roof-mounted curtain side impact supplemental airbags for front and rear-seat outboard occupant head protection. Next, the vehicle comes with standard Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) and Traction Control System (TCS) on all Leaf models.
The vehicle also features three-point automatic locking retractable (ALR) and emergency locking retractable (ELR) seat belts (ELR-only on the driver’s seat) with pretensioners and load limiters. It comes with the child seat upper tether anchor, LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren) system and child safety rear door locks.
