WESTLAKE VILLAGE, CA – J.D. Power released a report on January 2012 light-duty vehicle sales. The company said it expects fleet sales to increase by 9% compared with January 2011 and make up 22% of total light-duty vehicle sales. In total, J.D. Power expects light-duty vehicle sales in January to come in at 869,600 units, 6% higher than in January 2011.

In addition, the company said vehicle inventory declined to a 52-day supply at the beginning of January, compared with a 61-day supply at the beginning of December (partially due to the holiday production shutdown). J.D. Power stated that car inventory was at a 55-day supply in January, down from 59 days in December, while truck inventory levels dropped to a 50-day supply, previously at 63 days.
