March 5, 2008

RALEIGH, N.C. – A Wake County employee was recently killed in an accident at Wake County General Services Fleet Management. A news release from Wake County Manager David Cooke’s office said the incident occurred at 2:30 p.m.

Officials would not say what was being done at the work site, whether there were any other injuries, or how many workers were on scene at the time.

Family members confirmed the deceased worker as David Lee Champion of Raleigh but declined to comment further.

Occupational Safety & Health inspectors from the state Department of Labor are investigating the incident, Wake County spokeswoman Marshall Parrish said.
