Alternative Fuel Version for All Future Chrysler Products

October 9, 2007

AUBURN HILLS, MI – Chrysler’s newly appointed vice president Jim Press has indicated the American brand intends to build alternative-fuel versions of all its future models, according to the Web site Speaking to The Detroit News, Press said that “a plug-in hybrid, diesel hybrid, fuel-cell hybrid, and a petrol hybrid” were all “in the mix.” He added he expects new Chrysler owners Cerberus to invest heavily in alternative-fuel technology and improving environmental efficiency.

Press was formerly a top executive at Toyota, so he knows plenty about incorporating hybrids in a product line up. He was the man responsible for launching the original Prius hybrid. Chrysler’s new owners are hoping that Press’s critique of their new models will play a big part in turning the struggling company around.
