Woman Arrested for Taking Company Car

July 20, 2007

MOUNTLAKE TERRACE, WA - She left her job in Utah months ago and reportedly took a "bonus" with her - the company car, according to the Web site,

Mountlake Terrace police caught up with the woman Tuesday night she was driving a 2007 Ford Focus that belongs to her former employer. She was arrested for possession of stolen property, Mountlake Terrace Sgt. Doug Hansen said.

An officer saw the woman, 29, exiting the freeway and checked the license plate of the car. He discovered that the plates had been reported stolen out of Seattle. He stopped the car and questioned the woman.

After some resistance, the woman eventually told the officer her name. The officer checked the vehicle identification number on the Ford Focus and learned it was stolen.

The car had been stolen several months ago from the Lewis Transportation Group in Salt Lake City, Hansen said. "It was her company car. Apparently when she left the company she took the car with her."
