TRALA Appoints Ryder Executive to Chair of Equipment Technology Advisory Council

May 15, 2007

MIAMI– Ryder System, Inc. announced that Ty Cross, vice president of maintenance, has been appointed to serve as chairman of the Truck Renting and Leasing Association’s (TRALA) Equipment Technology Advisory Council (ETAC) for the 2007-2008 term.

“We are very pleased to have Ty assume this important role for our industry,” said Peter Vroom, TRALA president and CEO. “Truck renting and leasing places more than 35 percent of all new commercial trucks on the road providing state of the art maintenance to its customers. Ty’s experience and leadership will be critical as the Council addresses the 2007 and 2010 EPA emissions rules, the continued rapid growth in contract maintenance, new programs for technician training and recruitment and a wide variety of vehicle technology and safety issues.”

ETAC is comprised of maintenance and equipment experts from leasing and independent transportation companies that are members of TRALA. ETAC works with TRALA staff to develop recommendations for the Board of Directors and Government Relations Committee on issues involving the maintenance of vehicles.
