Seventh Annual ADESA Boston Classic Car and Motorcycle Run

May 22, 2007

Boston —For ADESA’s Jack Neshe and Tommy Caruso, collecting classic cars is a labor of love. They were bitten by the car bug decades ago as teenagers and were lucky enough to make a career out of their passion. They are especially smitten with classic cars from the 1950s and 1960s.

Seven years ago, they decided to turn their love of classic cars and motorcycles into an annual fundraiser, the ADESA Boston Classic Car and Motorcycle Run. Both work out of ADESA Boston in Framingham, Mass.—Neshe as the auction’s general manager and Caruso as the executive VP for ADESA’s Eastern Region. The annual event has raised more than $175,000 for children’s charities since it first began in 2000.

“Tommy and I have been going to classic car shows for years,” says Neshe. “Both of us have also had a classic car in our garage. I have a ’63 Falcon convertible, and Tommy has a ‘63 Mercury Monterey Woody station wagon. We had been talking for awhile about turning our passion for classic cars into something good and finally made it happen with this event in 2000.

“We started with just two objectives,” Neshe continued. “Foremost was our desire to always give the money to a children’s charity. We’ve donated in the past to the Children’s Hospital in Boston and, for the last several years, to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. The local JDRF chapter is very supportive and really gets involved in putting on this annual event.

“We also wanted to make sure no expenses were taken out of the proceeds so that all of the money raised went directly to charity. With all the support we’ve gotten from local businesses, the staff here in Boston and from ADESA Concord, local law enforcement agencies and Boston Radio Station Mike FM (WMKK), we’ve been able to keep that commitment since day one.”

The ADESA seventh annual Boston classic car and motorcycle run took place on May 20th 2007. For more information on the event, contact Glenda Ivey at 508-270-5401.
