MACOMB, IL - Macomb Mayor Mick Wisslead has named Walter J. Burnett, CAFM, as public works director, to oversee all divisions within the department. Burnett comes to the City of Macomb from the City of Beverly Hills, Calif., where he was public works maintenance operations manager. Burnett previously worked for the cities of Knoxville, Tenn., and Schaumburg, Ill. Burnett brings more than 32 years experience in public works operations to Macomb and is an accomplished author and presenter on public works topics. He is active in professional associations, including the American Public Works Association and National Association of Fleet Administrators, where he currently serves as treasurer. Burnett is a certified automotive fleet manager (CAFM) and a past president of the Automotive Transportation Supervisors Association. In 2006, Burnett was a finalist for the Public Sector Fleet Manager of the Year Award given by Government Fleet magazine and co-sponsored by Automotive Resources International (ARI) and sponsored by Fleet Counselor Services.
