TRALA Supporting Minnesota Ballot Initiative on Highway Funding

September 18, 2006

ALEXANDRIA, VA – The Truck Renting and Leasing Association (TRALA) is actively supporting a Minnesota ballot initiative to amend the state’s constitution to dedicate 100 percent of motor vehicle sales tax revenues to transportation funding. The Transportation Constitutional Amendment, authorized for placement on the Nov. 2006 ballot by the Minnesota Legislature in 2005, would boost funding for highways, bridges, and transit systems by $300 million each year. Currently, only 54 percent of car and truck sales tax revenue is used for transportation purposes.
