WASHINGTON, D.C. – H.R. 5632, the rolling resistance bill, is on the House of Representatives’ calendar and can be voted upon at any time, though a date has yet to be set, according to Modern Tire Dealer magazine. The bill would require the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to create a rule that will establish a national rating system for tire rolling resistance. H.R. 5632 was approved by the House Energy and Commerce Committee in June. The Tire Industry Association and the Rubber Manufacturers Association are in favor of the bill, while the Specialty Equipment Market Association opposes it.
