– A 1999 GMC Sierra truck operated by CSX Transportation recently surpassed 400,000 miles on its original engine and drivetrain.
Railroad service vehicles operate in a demanding environment 24 hours a day, seven days a week – usually with multiple operators," said Scott Schultz, vehicle procurement manager for CSX. "With adherence to the maintenance schedule and pride of ownership, CSX frequently sees light-duty GM products go well over 350,000 miles on their original drive trains. However, we believe this vehicle's performance has topped all previous endurance records. This kind of durability is very valuable in our environment, in which uptime is critical."
The truck is part of the CSX fleet located at the company’s Albany, NY facility.
