Freightliner Announces Layoffs at Truck Plant Due to Higher Fuel Prices

MOUNT HOLLY, NC — Freightliner LLC says it will lay off 260 people from its medium-duty truck plant in Mount Holly, North Carolina, according to the Associated Press.The job cuts, scheduled to take effect by late September, are blamed on higher fuel prices. About 1,280 employees represented by the United Autoworkers would still work at the plant.
