2006 Mazda6 Sport Sedan Receives Exterior Freshening and Interior Updates

September 20, 2005

DEARBORN, MI — For 2006, the Mazda6 sport sedan, 5-door, and sport wagon receive exterior freshening and interior updates. Mechanically, the optional Sport AT automatic transmission on 4-cylinder models is upgraded from a four-speed to a five-speed configuration, bringing improved drivability and fuel economy. The V-6 models have been modified to improve exhaust emissions, now producing 215 horsepower at 6,000 rpm, and 199lb./ft. of torque at 5,000 rpm. V-6 models continue to offer a choice of five-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmissions. Standard equipment on the four-cylinder Mazda6 includes ABS with Traction Control, adding an eight-way power driver’s seat, security alarm, and side airbags with side curtains across the range on S models. New front and rear fascias common to all trim levels enhance the clean lines of Mazda6, while emphasizing new side sills and a new sport-grille. Three new exterior colors are offered: dark cherry on the Mazda6 Sports Sedan and Sport Wagon, bright island blue on the Mazda6 5-door, and Tungsten Gray across the range.
