In Memoriam: William J. Fleming (1933–2005)

MUNDELEIN, IL — After a long illness, William J. Fleming passed away Aug. 8, 2005, at home with his family by his side. Born May 1, 1933, Fleming was past president of Dart & Kraft (D&K) Financial Corp. and a Stanford alumni. He began his career with Dobbs Fleet Leasing and also U.S. Fleet Leasing. While at D&K, he built an equipment leasing and a leverage leasing division.In 1982, D&K acquired Gambles C&M Leasing, which resulted in the creation of Dart & Kraft Financial Corp. In 1985, D&K acquired Leaseway’s car leasing division in Cleveland. In 1987, D&K Financial was purchased by GE Capital and relocated to Minneapolis.Fleming is survived by his wife of 50 years, three daughters, two sons, and 12 grandchildren.
