In Memoriam: Chester T. “Ted” Pass — 1929-2005

PALM CITY, FL — Former Southeast Toyota Executive, Chester T. “Ted” Pass, of Palm City, passed away June 11, at Martin Memorial Medical Center in Stuart, Fla. He was 76 years old. Pass began working in the automobile business for his father-in-law at a Chrysler dealership in Dallas. He worked at General Motors for 16 years in various positions, including the fleet department of Pontiac. In 1972, Pass helped Jim Moran establish a fleet department for Southeast Toyota Distributors, now the largest franchised distributor of Toyotas in the world. After 18 years at Southeast Toyota, Pass retired in 1990 as the vice president of fleet operations. Pass was a member of Palm City Presbyterian Church and enjoyed all aspects of music, including playing the trumpet. A talented golfer as well, Pass was a club champion at Sapphire Hills Country Club in North Carolina.
