In Memoriam: John Kines – 1941–2005

CHICAGO – John Kines, retired president of Diversified Services Group of Associates First Capital Corp., passed away June 5 in Chicago. He was 63. Kines was born Oct. 8, 1941. He worked in the fleet leasing industry from 1963 until his retirement in June 2000. Kines began his career with Hertz Corp. and ultimately rose through the ranks to become a regional vice president. He remained with Hertz Corp. until 1977 when he joined Associates Leasing as a senior vice president. In 2000, Kines retired from Associates First Capital Corp. as president of the Diversified Services Group. Following retirement, Kines served on the board of directors for The Celadon Group, a trucking and e-commerce company headquartered in Indianapolis. While in retirement, Kines and his wife Barbara maintained residences in Dallas, Chicago, and Durango, Colo. Kines is survived by his wife Barbara and two daughters.
