DEARBORN, MI – Ford Motor Co. began offering an "at 10,000 lb." GVWR option on its SuperDuty F-350 SRW Pickups this past January. The option was provided due to individual states’ increasing adoption of "interstate commerce" Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR) for "intrastate" operations and the impact of these regulations on trucks with GVWR's at or above 10,001 lbs.

The FMCSR regulations impose additional driver (i.e. driver hours of operation) and vehicle (inspection, repair, maintenance) logging requirements, insurance minimums, and other requirements that can be costly for fleets to implement. An "at 10,000 lb" GVWR truck is not subject to the FMCSR regulations. For more information on FMCSR requirements, visit www.ntea.com/br/fleet/reg.asp.
