— The Tire Industry Association (TIA) and Comdata Corporation announced on April 22 an agreement to provide TIA members with Comdata’s Fleet Team Web-based commercial fleet management tool at favorable member rates. Fleet Team is a service that frees merchants involved in providing parts, maintenance and repair services to fleets, from receivables management while allowing them to offer their customers a fleet maintenance system at no cost.Fleet Team pricing is primarily based on transaction volume. Through TIA, members using Fleet Team will benefit from larger-volume price discounts that are usually available only to large national groups with high sales transaction volumes. With Fleet Team, each time a purchase is made it automatically generates Level III purchasing information, the most detailed level of purchasing reporting, as well as a maintenance record, on a vehicle-by-vehicle basis. The aggregated data allow fleet managers to track maintenance activity and costs as well as build in scheduled reminders when additional preventive maintenance is due. TIA’s more than 5,000 international membership base is comprised primarily of independent tire retailers representing all segments of the tire industry, including those that manufacture, repair, recycle, sell, service or use new or retreaded tires, and also those suppliers or individuals who furnish equipment, material or services to the industry.
