NAFA Says No Resolution Reached on Fuel Excise Tax

March 1, 2005

ISELIN, NJ — As of February 23, there has been no resolution of the fuel excise tax issue for government and educational institution fleets, according to the NAFA Fleet Focus e-mail newsletter. If there is no resolution, beginning March 1, the cost of the excise tax will be included in billings from fuel card vendors, according to the National Association of Fleet Administrators (NAFA). Negotiations continue with key members of Congress for an extension of the March 1 deadline. Tax exempt fleets should contact their elected federal representatives immediately and ask that the deadline be extended.
