Update on 2005-MY Prius Fleet Production

January 25, 2005

TORRANCE, CA — On September 30, 2004, TMS (Toyota Motor Sales) announced Prius will receive an increase in production allocation for the U.S. market in 2005 calendar year to100,000 units annually. The company stated that while this increase is aimed principally at addressing the existing retail customer order bank and satisfying ongoing retail demand, a limited volume of fleet production is has been made available beginning with the November 2004 order cycle (March/April 2005 delivery). It is anticipated fleet demand will exceed both the established TMS’ fleet calendar year and monthly production guides (limits) for 2005. As such, TMS is not currently in a position to support the sale of Prius to rental car customers, outside of existing national account agreements. In the 2005 calendar year Prius fleet orders will be limited to commercial, government, and TRAC.
