Swiss Valley Moves Fleet Operations Out of Quad-City Area

January 11, 2005

MILAN, IL — As many as 10 truck drivers with Swiss Valley Farms could lose their jobs when the dairy cooperative relocates its fleet operations from Milan, Ill., to Dubuque, Iowa, a company official said on Jan. 4, according to the Quad City Times.“This is not a downsizing, we've had a change in our operations,” said Debbie Sullivan, the human resources director for the Davenport-based Swiss Valley. The move impacts about 10 drivers, who work out of the Milan truck yard, she said. The fleet will move at the end of January.Sullivan said the employees have been offered transfers, but it is too early to know how many will accept the offer. “Hopefully,” she said, “they will make the change with us.”
