Michelin to Recall Some XDE Commercial Truck Tires

January 4, 2005

GREENVILLE, SC — Michelin has begun a recall of some of its Michelin XDE commercial truck tires, size 10R22.5 LRG and LRF, according to Land Line magazine on December 20. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced the recall information Dec. 17. The tires, manufactured between May 23 and Oct. 24, 2004, can experience rapid air loss because of an irregularity in the inner liner. The rapid air loss can result in loss of vehicle control, and a crash could happen, the NHTSA recall notice stated. According to the recall notice, Michelin will notify its customers and replace the tires free of charge. Owners who do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should call Michelin at (888) 622-2306. Owners may also contact the NHTSA's safety hotline at (888) DASH-2-DOT (888) 327-4236).
