The national average for regular unleaded as of Nov. 4, was $2.01 per gallon, up 48 cents from the national average the same day a year ago, according to the American Automobile Association, as reported by Automotive News. Other highs and lows for Nov. 4:
  • Highest state average price for regular unleaded: Hawaii, $2.42, compared with $2.11 the same day last year.
  • Lowest state average price for regular unleaded: Oklahoma, $1.85, compared with $1.38 the same day last year.
  • Highest price for a gallon of regular unleaded: $2.99 in Bridgeport, Calif.
  • Lowest price for a gallon of regular unleaded: $1.74 in Norman, Okla. The averages are provided by AAA, of Heathrow, Fla., which monitors credit card transactions at 60,000 self-serve gasoline stations nationwide. The automobile club posts them on its Web site, www.fuelgaugereport.com/. GasPriceWatch.com of Dayton, Ohio, which gathers more than 70,000 prices submitted by spotters nationwide, reports the highest and lowest prices in the country.
