Shell – Motiva Offer Optimized Fuel Delivery Services to Commercial Customers

September 14, 2004

Shell Oil Products US (SOPUS) and Motiva Enterprises LLC (Motiva) Commercial Fuels group now offer Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) to commercial end-users through Simmons-Corp of Richardson, TX. VMI capability allows SOPUS and Motiva Commercial to offer remote fuel tank monitoring and optimize delivery scheduling for the end-user customer base. VMI is remote management of fuel supply. It uses Simmons’ Fuel Tank Solutions remote polling technology to retrieve data from tank monitoring systems installed in the customer’s storage tanks. The tank data is translated into historical throughput patterns that are used to predict future needs. Orders are then automatically created and scheduled by SOPUS/Motiva Order Management Center for delivery to optimize product inventory levels.
