Safelite Glass Helps Pick Up the Pieces After Hurricane Charley

August 24, 2004

Disaster recovery efforts continue in Florida and the tens of thousands of drivers who experienced losses due to Hurricane Charley have begun reporting claims. Safelite AutoGlass has recorded an elevated call volume for claim filing and glass damage repair. In response to these increases, Safelite AutoGlass has extended early morning, evening, and weekend service hours in impacted areas and is sending more than 25 technicians and service support personnel to Florida. This brings the Florida Safelite AutoGlass team total to nearly 300. Safelite AutoGlass continues to provide mobile and in-shop repair and replacement service everywhere in the state of Florida and at a temporary location in Port Charlotte, where travel is more difficult for customers. The temporary location is at the Charlotte Square Shopping Plaza, corner of Forest Nelson and Route 41. The markets assess inventory needs daily and receive regular shipments of inventory to respond to demand. For questions about Safelite’s service during the disaster recovery or Safelite’s Catastrophe Action Team capabilities, please contact Safelite Client Services at (614) 210-9420.
