GE Hispanic Forum and GE Volunteers Beautify Park for Earth Day
GE Fleet Services announced that GE Volunteers and the GE Hispanic Forum worked to clean up Staring Lake Park on Pioneer Trail in Eden Prairie. For more than 10 consecutive years, employees of GE Fleet Services and their families have dedicated their collective manpower to cleaning up the park in celebration of Earth Day.
The family volunteer event, sponsored jointly by the GE Hispanic Forum and the Twin Cities Chapter of GE Volunteers, plays a valuable role in preparing the 155-acre park for spring visitors. This year, approximately 25 employees and their family members gathered on Saturday morning, April 17, to pick up garbage and debris around the grounds of Staring Lake Park.
Indra Mendoza, president of the GE Hispanic Forum and organizer of the 2004 event, says the event goes hand-in-hand with GE’s spirit of volunteerism. “We look forward to this project every year and the chance to ‘give back’ to our environment on Earth Day. The activity is made especially meaningful because our families are right there with us, improving the atmosphere of our community park.”
