LA City Council Endorses Ban Against Driving With Hand-Held Cell Phone
The Los Angeles City Council voted January 8 to support a proposal in the state legislature to ban use of cell phones by drivers statewide and will study the feasibility of a citywide ban.
Council members will also explore a law prohibiting city workers from using city-issued cell phones while driving.
During discussion, Councilwoman Cindy Miscikowski said the city should consider its own law. "I think this is important enough that we should look at making this a law in the city and not wait for the state," she said.
