Valero Saves with GPS

November 3, 2003

Since August of 2002, Valero Energy Corp. has installed the @Road GPS system on 25 maintenance trucks. Technicians assigned to these vehicles are responsible for maintaining pumps and equipment at a designated number of stores. Since installation of the GPS systems, which report the total time drivers spend at each field location, Valero has saved $6,530 per month for nine tested trucks in overtime and fuel expenses, and most notably the number of jobs being outsourced. @Road is a Web-based program management tool in which work can be benchmarked by the average job completion rate.
