XM Tops 1 Million Subscribers

After less than two years since its November 2001 debut, XM Satellite Radio, Inc., recently reported its subscriber base has exceeded 1 million. The company hopes to have 1.2 million subscribers by the end of the year.

XM charges its satellite radio subscribers $9.99 per month, while its only competitor, Sirius Satellite Radio, Inc., charges $12.95 per month.

Sirius is offered on Chrysler group, Mercedes, Ford Motor Co., and BMW vehicles, while XM is offered on GM, Honda, Acura, Scion, Audi, Infiniti, Nissan, Volkswagen, and Isuzu vehicles.
