GE Fleet Services Signs Agreement with Carfax to Provide Service and Maintenance Records on Vehicles

GE Fleet Services announced on September 24 it has entered into agreement with CARFAX, a vehicle history reporting company, to collect and share GE Fleet’s service and maintenance vehicle records with prospective buyers. Effective October 13, 2003, wholesale buyers purchasing used vehicles from GE Fleet Services will be able to access, through CARFAX Vehicle History Reports, extensive documentation on these vehicles’ past service and maintenance. This documentation will cover everything from oil changes to brake replacements.Client vehicles enrolled in GE Fleet Services’ Maintenance Management program will draw added attention at auction with a sticker on the windshield stating the vehicle’s service and maintenance records are available through“By providing service and maintenance records through CARFAX Vehicle History Reports, dealers will have access to more data about the key selling points of these vehicles. In addition, more information than ever will be available to consumers, helping them buy the best and safest car for themselves and their families,” said Scott Fredericks, vice president, CARFAX. Dealers that purchase these vehicles will be able to keep the CARFAX stickers on the vehicles’ windshields. The sticker will help the retailer proactively demonstrate to consumers they are selling a car that’s been well maintained.“The CARFAX partnership with GE Fleet Services will provide an excellent tool for communicating information that differentiates their cars from the others on the auction block,” said Nick Peluso, senior vice president, Sales and Marketing, Manheim Auctions. “This partnership will help build trust between seller and buyer.”“Being able to provide a record of each vehicle’s past will help us move inventory,” said Tom Kontos, vice president, Industry Relations and Analytical Services, Adesa Corporation. “More importantly, providing CARFAX Vehicle History Reports will provide value and peace-of-mind to dealers that they can pass on to consumers.”
