ADESA Releases Global Vehicle Remarketing 2003

ADESA Corp. has issued Global Vehicle Remarketing 2003, an annual analysis of the state of the 9.5-million-unit North American vehicle auction industry. The 80-page report was written by Tom Kontos, ADESA’s vice president, industry relations & analytical services, and will soon be available online at report includes 60 graphs and covers a range of topics on the used-vehicle and auction industries. Kontos found, for example, that spending one dollar on reconditioning used vehicles typically yields an incremental wholesale value of $1.25 to $2.00.That finding was based on data collection from more than two million vehicles, sold at ADESA auctions in 2002, that used more than four million reconditioning services ranging from “wash and vac” to premium services that allow vehicles to meet manufacturers’ certified pre-owned vehicle specifications.
