Virginia Law Exempts Lessors from Toll Liability

March 17, 2003

Vehicle lessors in Virginia will not be held liable for toll booth violations committed by rental and lease customers. The Virginia legislature passed Senate Bill 721 on Feb. 18, 2003, removing vehicle lessors from liability. The bill awaits the signature of Gov. Mark Warner. The Truck Renting and Leasing Association (TRALA) was active in promoting passage of the state bill.
