FedEx Corp. will use a General Motors Corp. fuel cell vehicle for delivery operations in Tokyo for a period of one year, enabling the automaker to collect and analyze data to determine how its fuel cell vehicles perform under real driving conditions.
The overnight delivery company will use the car – based on General Motors' HydroGen3 prototype – between June 2003 and June 2004. The agreement comes as a part of GM’s participation in the Japan Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Demonstration Project. It will be the first commercial test of a fuel cell vehicle in Japan.
The HydroGen3 is based on the Opel Zafira minivan.
